We Are Non-Ukrainian Nationals—Protecting Our Rights
We are non-Ukrainian nationals who fled the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, and sought refuge in the Netherlands. Like millions, we turned to the EU for protection. Former State Secretary Eric van der Burg attempted to end our protection on September 4, 2023, but the decision was suspended.
On January 17, 2024, the Council of State ruled this move unlawful. However, our protection now ends on March 4, 2024, excluding us from the March 2025 extension granted to others. This contradicts EU law.
We ask only for equal treatment and continued protection under the Temporary Protection Directive.
